Streets of Galway is a painting of my hometown as I remember it from my youth. The palette is a reflection of the city's mood — Galway is overcast and rainy on any given day, and I wanted the colours to carry that feeling honestly rather than fight it. The Cathedral rises in the background, as it does in towns and cities across Ireland, where the church is so often the dominating feature of the skyline and a quiet anchor of Catholic life. This is Galway as it lives in my memory: grey-skied, rain-softened, and unmistakably home.
